Behavioral Health Technician- Community Housing Solutions

The Behavioral Health Technician for the Community Housing Center will be responsible for monitoring clients, charting behavioral observations, and facilitating educational reading groups in a therapeutic setting. Ibis Healthcare's CHSC is an emergency bridge housing program assisting up to 75 adult men and women in the Tampa area through this initiative. This program provides a safe and stable place to live for up to 4 months (120 days) while individuals work towards getting back on their feet.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in the mental health field or health care setting preferred. BHT certification preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with individuals served, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance (if driving on the job).

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor clients and document their behaviors according to program policies and procedures.
  • Assist clients with daily recreational activities.
  • Distribute medication and oversee client use.
  • Operate a vehicle to transport clients to appointments when needed.
  • Report on all client incidents witnessed as required.
  • Participate in client staffing and team meetings.
  • Conduct regular rounds and community room checks following policies and procedures.
  • Educate clients on residential facility house rules, program guidelines, and curfew times.
  • Facilitate intervention care, including monitoring urine drug screens.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Residential Care Housing facility in a team-oriented environment. Fast-paced setting, especially during high-peak enrollment periods or discharge.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Abilities include reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, hearing, reading, writing, and staying calm under stress. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required include close-up, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds alone. May be required to give standing presentations involving speaking and listening to the audience.
