Counselor Supervisor-Court Services

The Counselor Supervisor provide clinical supervision of counseling staff and clinical intervention and case management for patients at risk for or diagnosed with chemical dependency through the Court Service/ Forensic Outpatient Program. The Counselor Supervisor provide clinical supervision of counseling staff and clinical intervention and case management for patients at risk for or diagnosed with chemical dependency through the Court Service/ Forensic Outpatient Program. Directly supervises staff within Drug Court. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and any applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training new employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have Florida License (Registered Intern, LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) and 2-4 years of relevant experience in similar setting. Bilingual (English-Spanish) is preferred. Computer knowledge should include Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).  Electronic Medical Records experience preferred. Demonstrated competency in children and adolescent patient therapy. May provide clinical oversight in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables. Knowledge of 12-step program, behavior modification, case management and addiction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct regular clinical supervision for all counselors, peer support specialists, interns, students and/or any direct care staff within the program.
  • Provide clinical assistance and guidance; Serve as a resource for counselors regarding program policies and procedures, ensuring that staff are aware of and following current standards of care.
  • Monitor and assist in training and education of staff members, interns, and students.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to oversee recommendations and interventions related to patient care.
  • Conduct patient assessments and evaluations; develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Assist with court preparation and attend court hearings.
  • Testify in court hearings regarding patient's progress, compliance, and barriers to treatment and urine drug screening requirements.
  • Review evaluations and assessments for appropriate recommendation and assist with coordination of placement.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling as necessary.
  • Review patient charts and complete monthly Quality Improvement chart audits.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical records.
  • Participate in clinical case consultations and treatment team meetings.
  • Make referrals to appropriate resource agencies and provide feedback to those agencies.
  • Create, maintain, and submit reports as required.
  • Provide crisis intervention, when needed.
  • Plan and conduct staff development activities as required.
  • Perform primary duties of the Coordinator in their absence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, eye-hand dexterity, ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, maintain good balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations.
