Family Support Specialist

The Family Support Specialist will be responsible for monitoring patients and their children in a therapeutic residential facility, documenting daily behavior, and facilitating educational group sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring and charting patient interactions, including interactions with patients, their children, families, and members of the community.
  • Assisting with recreational, daily living activities, and childcare activities
  • Monitoring, observation, and documentation of medication.
  • Transporting patients and program participants as needed.
  • Submit incident reports as needed.
  • Ensure the living environment is safe and clean by promoting the patient's daily chores
  • Enforce Program rules and infant/child/toddler safety rules.
  • Conduct safety checks of patients and their infants regularly throughout the shift.
  • Provide administrative support as required.
  • Provide support, encouragement, and guidance as needed for new moms

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 1-2 years of comparable work experience. Responsible for transporting patients to and from healthcare appointments; therefore, a clean driving history is required. Must be at least 21 years of age or older to be insured by the agency, must have a valid Florida Driver's License, and reliable transportation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Residential facility housing parents and children. Most work is performed while sitting, but will assist clients with daily living activities and recovery skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Abilities include reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, hearing, reading, writing, and staying calm under stress. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required include close-up, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. May be required to give standing presentations involving speaking and listening to the audience.
