APRN-Family Practice

The APRN will perform assigned responsibilities under the supervision of the Primary Care Medical Director and Health Center Executive Director or the designee. This is an advanced professional position that will provide medical treatment services intended to assist persons with acute and chronic medical conditions, including but not limited to psychiatric and addiction illnesses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish) with additional compensation.
  • Capable of providing medical care to Adolescents (ages 14 - 17) preferred.
  • Must have an active license to practice in Florida. A minimum of 2 years of clinical advanced nursing experience.
  • Experience in a specialized area of practice such as family practice.
  • Comfortably providing medical care to people with psychiatric and/or addiction illnesses.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, with people experiencing psychiatric and/or addiction illnesses.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies as appropriate.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Collaborate with other physicians, APRNS, Medical Assistants, Referral Specialists, and Front Desk Administrative Assistants to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Complete the required electronic health record patient documentation and maintain accurate, detailed, and timely patient records.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage as required/scheduled.
  • Attend agency meetings as required (i.e., Health Center Quality Meeting, Medical Staff Meeting, and ad hoc meetings to improve processes.
  • Maintain professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences, and self-study necessary to maintain current license and knowledge applicable to the position.
