The Counselor for Residential Services will provide clinical intervention and case management for clients diagnosed with chemical dependency or co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health disorders. Our residential treatment programs offer a safe and supportive environment where clients can fully focus on healing, away from the triggers and stresses of daily life. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of a Master's degree within a field of study in a Human Services-related discipline and at least 1 year of related work experience. (Child welfare programs require 2 years of experience with at-risk populations and a child welfare certification. )
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical records, procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and document clinical activities and effectively communicate verbally with, provide information to, and respond to questions from managers, patients, service providers, managed care entities, family members, and other stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills to compose reports, memos, emails, etc., and verbal skills to relay details to a diverse population of clients and/or their representatives.
• Excellent critical thinking skills to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Knowledge of 12-step programs, behavior modification, case management, and addiction.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct client assessments and evaluations, including screening for co-occurring disorders.
• Develop and implement treatment plans for clients that address both chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
• Create discharge plans with clients that include provisions for co-occurring disorders when identified.
• Monitor client fee payments and refer clients to financial staff for assistance.
• Retrieve drug screen results and document them in the client's file.
• Provide case management services for clients.
• Offer individual, group, and family counseling as needed.
• Prepare and maintain clinical records within the required timeframe.
• Submit reports as necessary.
• Participate in clinical staff meetings and team discussions.
• Attend weekly therapeutic community meetings.
• Make referrals to appropriate resource agencies and document the outcomes of these referrals.
• Provide crisis intervention when required.
• Assist in the training and education of staff members, interns, and students.
• May require a valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and current vehicle insurance.

WORK ENVIORNMENT:

High-paced, collaborative team performance with the emphasis on critical thinking and decision-making with guidance from the program supervisor/manager. The facility is a climate-controlled office environment with frequent exposure to substance use and behavioral health clients. Some programs may require traveling within Hillsborough County via personal vehicle or agency vehicle to facilitate in-home client services or onsite clinical programs in a variety of socioeconomic neighborhoods.
