Health Informatics Analyst

Essential Responsibilities

·         Extract, organize, and validate data from electronic health record systems (Avatar preferred) and other data sources using SQL and Excel.

o   Document data sources, definitions, queries, and reporting workflows to support reproducibility and knowledge transfer across the team.

o   Monitor data entry quality to ensure completeness and accuracy of grant and contract data fields.

o   Identify opportunities to improve data quality and reporting efficiency and bring proposed solutions forward.

·         Produce regular and ad hoc reports, including data visualizations (i.e., Power BI, presentations, etc.), to support grant requirements, contract terms, and operational decision-making.

o   Collaborate with administrative and clinical teams to proactively clarify data parameters and confirm deliverable expectations.

o   Perform ongoing KPI monitoring and reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.

o   Perform exploratory data analysis and data mining of healthcare claims and authorizations data.

o   Distill data into clear, accurate, and actionable summaries for both technical and non-technical audiences.

·         Design and execute rigorous program evaluation using quantitative and qualitative methods of data analysis. This may include written and visual deliverables, beyond statistical results.

o   Critically evaluate information from a variety of sources (including content experts, clinical applications, databases, practice guidelines, relevant websites, etc.) to improve the quality and safety of patient care and deliver relevant information to clinicians.

·         Support other informatics deliverables under the direction of the Health Informatics Manager.

o   Adapt to shifting priorities and balance multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines.

·         Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organizational data in accordance with HIPAA and Ibis policies.

·         Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., public health, data analytics, statistics, health information)
  • One to three years of related experience; relevant coursework, internships, or student research experience may count toward this requirement
  • Proficiency with SQL for data extraction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new types of tasks as priorities shift
  • Ability to work independently on most tasks while contributing as a collaborative team member

·Clear written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

·Experience with Avatar or another electronic health record system

·Experience with Power BI or another data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Looker)

·Knowledge of or hands-on experience with behavioral health and/or healthcare data

·Statistical experience, including use of statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python)

·Experience supporting grant or contract reporting

Work Environment

General office, health care setting. Most work is completed while sitting at desk using standard office equipment. Fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Multitasking requires above-average time management skills.

Physical Demands

·May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.
