LPN Children Inpatient [PRN]

POSITION SUMMARY

The LPN will provide direct nursing care to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Oversees care provided by Behavioral Health Technicians. Utilizes nursing process including assessment, identification of nursing problems, planning, execution, evaluation and modification of nursing interventions as determined by patient outcomes. Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders. Assures patient safety through safe administration of medications, prevention of violent behavior, patient injury, and infection control. Participates as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and Quality Improvement activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse program with 1 year of experience preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees, and the general public. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and request the assistance of the RN when necessary.
  • Ability to multitask, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess the physiological, psychosocial, and environmental needs of patients and report findings to the Registered Nurse.
  • Implement the plan of care based on nursing standards and practice.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of nursing interventions defined in the plan of care.
  • Ensure accurate and complete required documentation is approved by a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrate competency in critical-thinking and decision-making skills and involve a Registered Nurse when required.
  • Monitor staff and the continuous workflow of the program.
  • Share professional and technical knowledge in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Possess empathy to sympathize with and comprehend the disorders faced by our patients and/or clients and their effects on behavior
