Medical Assistant PRN

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Completed a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution; holds current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credentials.
  • Must be able to, read, write, comprehend verbal and written instructions, file alphabetically and use office machines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with, provide information to, and respond to questions from employees, clients, visitors and all outside providers.
  • Minimum of (2) years' experience in an MA role.
  • Ability to navigate and enter data into an electronic health record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General climate-controlled health care setting.
  • Most work completed while seated at desk using standard office equipment.
  • Interface with patients in an outpatient or acute care inpatient environment.
  • Fast paced. Multi-tasking requiring above average time management skills. Team approach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for knowing and following all clinical policy and procedure and accreditation requirements including documentation of all patient information accurately and timely into EHR.
  • Complete intake interview for new and returning patients.
  • Participates in daily huddles; works with care team to ensure pre-visit preparation including culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
  • Prepare patients for medical exams consistent with reason for visit; assist provider with exams, as requested.
  • Perform related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by supervisor, including addressing barriers to care when the patient has not met treatment goals.
  • Process all tasks, route task appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Administer adult and pediatric vaccines at the direction of a provider, following established protocols and immunization schedules.
  • Perform screening tests; safely and accurately draw blood; complete standing orders.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, disinfect exam room tables, treatment and lab surfaces daily; empty, bag and remove all biohazard waste from clinical area

  • Adheres to all applicable federal, state, local, and company maintained standards of compliance, ethics, and policies concerned with the administration and delivery of agency services.
  • Meets deadlines, requirements, and expectations as established by the supervisor, agency and department.
  • Completes administrative functions and data entry timely and accurately.
