PRN-Outpatient LPN (Injection)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide direct nursing care by administering long acting injections to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Assures patient safety through safe administration of medications and infection control. Participates as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed Practical Nurse program with 1 year experience preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and request the assistance of the RN when necessary. Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, fingering, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Outpatient psychiatric and primary care health care setting. Fast-paced team approach. Multi-tasking, requiring above average time management skills.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Administer and note reactions to long acting injections.
  • Observe patients and report any problems or potential issues that are observed directly to provider.
  • Coordinate with clinical providers and pharmacy for filling patient requests.
  • Assist in following up/rescheduling with patients who have missed their appointments.
  • Support with Health Center tasks as needed including but not limited to completing labs, recording vitals, and assisting the Medical Doctor.
  • Maintain efficient workflow management and organization as per program requirements.
  • Maintain proficient quality of clinical documentation as per program requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed as per program requirements.
