The Vocational Specialist for the F.A.C.T. Team is an experienced professional responsible for assessing clients' interests and serious mental health conditions to help them secure employment or vocational training, as well as adjust to workplace environments. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team and reporting to the Program Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in a related field of study with at least 1 year of related experience (preferred).
• Must be 21 years of age or over, have a valid Florida driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of managed care, billing, and insurance verification.
• Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, and ability to learn and use other software.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with, provide information to, and respond to questions from managers, clients, service providers, family members, and the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships required for proper functioning.
• Demonstrates skills to handle a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate tasks and work assignments.
  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Vocational Specialist will work with people with serious mental illnesses and emphasize helping them obtain competitive work in the community and providing the support necessary to ensure their success in the workplace.
• The Vocational Specialist also provides consultation and training to other team staff on supported employment approaches.
• The Vocational Specialist will assist with caseload and may assist with transportation when needed. May deliver medications to patients and document patient self-administration of medications. All direct service staff will rotate on call, working evening hours and weekend coverage, so must be available for rotation of these changing hours.
• Attend agency-wide, division, and program meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops to maintain and enhance essential skills and knowledge. May interview/hire prospective employees and orients them to the program.
• Assumes administrative and supervisory duties in the supervisor's absence.
• Performs other duties that are similar, related, or are a logical assignment to the job.
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office environment, health care setting. Most tasks are performed while sitting at a desk using standard office equipment. The atmosphere is fast-paced and team-focused, involving multitasking that requires above-average time management skills. May require commuting to perform client visits in Hillsborough County.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Abilities include reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, hearing, reading, writing, and staying calm under stress. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required include close-up, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds alone. May be required to deliver standing presentations that involve speaking and listening to the audience
